In the early hours of Thursday the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades of our school had the privilege to see a performance by Vienna´s English Theatre in the “Kulturhaus” of Hallstatt.
The play was named “Pitch Black” and is based on Shakespeare`s Othello but transferred in our modern times with digital media, computers and mobile phones.
The English Football Team is in a change. The new team coach Donatello Moore names the very young Michael Cassio as team captain and not David Jago.
Jago has always been jealous of Moore because of his popularity and success. When Donatello Moore marries the 17-year-old model Mona Deeds, who is also a good friend of Jago`s, it is too much for him. He starts to play out his own team mates against each other and to make matters worse he spreads rumours about Mona being unfaithful.
When Jago finds out that his wife has always said the truth it is already too late…
The four actors were awesome! Only Mona Deeds had a little trouble to step out of the excellent characters of the three male protagonists.
Sadly the stage lights didn´t work, which made it a bit difficult to get captivated by the performance. But all in all it was a very welcome break from school and we all had a good laugh!
